Purpose of this Blog...

You may have noticed that not all books are equal in capturing children's imaginations and in cultivating those innocent, tender souls. My goal is to help you find the ones that do!

NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK STARTS TODAY!

In honor of NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK (April 10-16) I thought I'd take a fun look back in time at libraries. Remember card catalogs?  Libraries have come a long way and have moved right along with technology...

I love these vintage library posters!

"A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them." ~Lemony Snicket

"As a child, my number one best friend was the librarian in my grade school.  I actually believed all those books belonged to her."  ~Erma Bombeck

Now THIS is a L-I-B-R-A-R-Y!!!

  1. Those posters are so sweet. I love our library...yes, we got the No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency DVDs there...I think you will like them. We've watched volume 1 (2 episodes, which is about 2 hours) and part of volume 2 (it has 3 episodes) and I also have volume 3...so hopefully soon we'll make time to enjoy them all!
I prefer reading...I can take it with me, while the girls are in karate or piano lessons...and I can just read. I hope I get # 12 soon! Sounds like Phuti and Grace will be married!!!

  2. I've only read the first No.1 LDA - I'm so interested to see the DVDs! (And read all the books.) :)

  3. I'm really happy for my amended poster 'forget the cooking' to be widely used, but it is Creative Commons, and I do request a link back. My entire collection of library propaganda posters is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/philbradley/sets/72157625923493122/

    Thanks.
